What is World DJ Day?

World DJ day is not only an official fest (something in this way) but also an important charity event, which takes place in 2002 (was founded) , behalf of the International club industry. Every year on March 9 in the World Day DJ around the world makes like an charity event to help children’s organizations.

The initiators of the event are the World DJ Fund Foundation and the organization of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, which uses music to treat children and adults. All moneys earned by the DJs / Clubs / Radio stations in that day go to various children’s fonds and international institutions.

For several years, an annual tradition of charity was supported by known media like: MTV, Radio 1, Galaxy, Mixmag, DJ, Muzik, Hello, Face, Loaded and FHM, as well as the stars of international dance scene: Pete Tong, Danny Tenaglia, Sasha , Dave Seaman, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Seb Fontaine, Sister Bliss and many others.

Its History

A disc jockey, also known as DJ (or deejay), is a person who selects and plays recorded music for an audience. Originally, disk referred to phonograph records, while disc referred to the Compact Disc, and has become the more common spelling. Today, the term includes all forms of music playback, no matter the medium.

There are several types of disc jockeys. Radio DJs introduce and play music that is broadcast on AM, FM, shortwave, digital, or internet radio stations. Club DJs select and play music in bars, nightclubs, discoth?ques, at raves, or even in a stadium. Hip hop disc jockeys select and play music using multiple turntables, often to back up one or more MCs, and they may also do turntable scratching to create percussive sounds. In reggae, the disc jockey (deejay) is a vocalist who raps, “toasts”, or chats over pre-recorded rhythm tracks while the individual choosing and playing them is referred to as a selector. Mobile DJs travel with portable sound systems and play recorded music at a variety of events.

World DJ Day is a global fund raising effort to benefit many children’s charities around the world. March 9th is the date for the largest global fund-raising activity the dance music industry has ever been involved in. On the night, and the week running up to it, the global dance community will be working together to raise money for international children’s charities. DJs, clubs, promoters, magazines, radio, TV stations, and records labels are all involved in the fund raising. From auctioning off an A-list DJ, to holding a top DJ soundclash and many exciting ideas. World DJ Day is an annual event and is shaping up to become one of the most important dates in dance music’s calendar. Essentially it’s a week of fund raising that will involve every member of the international dance community. This will be the first time the whole industry has worked together for one cause. A truly unique event that has the support of everyone involved.

World DJ Day is asking every DJ to give up their fees for one night and donate the proceeds to various children’s and music associated charities around the globe. From the leading A-list players, to every commercial, mobile, and bedroom DJ in the world. The internet’s biggest DJ site, djpages.com, will inform over 3000 resident DJs in 82 countries about World DJ Day. We want everyone to come up with ideas on how they can get involved – from top clubs to tiny clubs – together we can make a significant change to children’s lives across the world as a result of people’s generosity, drive, and commitment.

Nordoff Robbins, the renowned music industry charity, will administrate all funds and work with charity partners in other countries across the world. DMC branches in 26 countries are forming committees and proposing children’s charities who will work with Nordoff Robbins. Nordoff Robbins Music Thereapy does extremely valuable work for children, and is founded on the basis that everyone can respond to music thereapy, no matter how ill, disabled or traumatised. The centre treats 350 adults and children each week through individual therapy programmes that are designed to encourage everything from personal growth and development to stress release. This is the first time in its history that the dance community will come together on such a national and global scale.

Patrons already signed upto World DJ Day include some of the biggest names from the international DJ Community: Pete Tong, Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, Dave Seaman, DJ Lottie, Tim Westwood, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Trevor Nelson, Hernan Cattaneo, Seb Fontaine, Sister Bliss and many more have already pledged their full support and total commitment to World DJ Day. All the world’s leading clubs and promoters have also agreed to do everything in their power to make World DJ Day a resounding success.
